Science Communicators' Forum (SCF) was established in 1985 in West Bengal, India, by a group of dedicated science activists, teachers, educationists, and science enthusiasts. Since its inception, SCF has been committed to promoting and popularizing science education through innovative and accessible methods of learning.
The Forum emphasizes hands-on science education using low-cost and no-cost materials, especially at the elementary and secondary levels. SCF believes that science learning should be experiential, inclusive, and relevant to everyday life.
SCF is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. The organization actively works to develop creative tools, methodologies, and programmes that strengthen scientific understanding among students, teachers, and the wider community.
Over the years, SCF has opened new avenues for capacity building and science communication by organizing camps, workshops, teacher training programmes, science exhibitions, and outreach activities across West Bengal and beyond.
SCF is also engaged in research and development (R&D) initiatives in important areas such as water literacy, weather monitoring, GIS and community mapping, environmental education, and creative science learning.
The Forum aims to reach marginalized communities and promote scientific temper through the exchange of scientific knowledge and indigenous wisdom, helping people better understand natural phenomena and their environment.
Through its sustained efforts, SCF continues to nurture scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among learners, educators, and the community, contributing towards building a scientifically informed society.
